Teyana Taylor is one star with an impressive run ever since she debuted in Hollywood. From movies, dance videos, and record deals to cover stories, the star has truly come and conquered.
At 15, the multitalented star was signed to a record deal by Pharrell Williams. She switched things up when she choreographed the video for Beyoncé’s “Ring the Alarm.” In her early 20s, she’d appeared in a Tyler Perry movie and dropped her debut album.

Most recently Teyana starred in A.V. Rockwell’s latest film, A Thousand and One which was released in March. The movie was set in the mid-1990s and early 2000s in New York and features the story of one woman’s struggle to raise her son against the shifting backdrop of the city.
Also, the star was featured amongst Harper’s Bazaar Icons 2023, which includes other cover stars Kendall Jenner, Paul Mescal, and Doja Cat. There the 32-year-old shared nights about her professional life and dreams.
Speaking about her background and how it influenced her style, Teyana Taylor shared, “Being from Harlem definitely plays a big part in my swag. Real talk, I think that’s what gives me my touchable spirit and soul. I’ve seen a lot. I’ve been through a lot!”
As stated above, her latest project “A Thousand and One premiered in match with her receiving an Oscar nomination. When asked about it she said, “A Thousand and One was a real yes for me. I knew that I had a job to do on that film.”
Teyana continued, “I was very intentional and knew what my goal was: to be able to get this acknowledgement from the masses to be able to go on and do other things that I love. I went from people second-guessing when they heard my name to getting an Oscar buzz. That’s good enough for me.”
Sharing her goals and career aspirations, the star said, “I’ve really learned about my strength and my influence on others at this point in my career. When I say that, I don’t mean in a way of people copying me and all that; I mean that you never know whose day you’re making.”
You never know who you are inspiring. I get joy in uplifting others. I’ve leaned into the power of my strength, my words, my actions. I’ve been in the game so long that I’ve been able to compare and contrast the rights from wrongs, the mistakes that have helped me grow,” Teyana Taylor added.
Then continued, “I don’t regret anything in life. I’ve learned to take your Ls not as a loss but as a lesson. The weight is not punishment, it’s preparation. I feel like I’m still learning and growing and navigating this thing that we call life, but I want to do it in a way where I’m touchable.
Teyena Taylor is married to Iman Shumpert after meeting at a party in 2011. However, they remained friends until 2013. They got engaged in 2015 and officially tied the knot in 2016. They share two daughters: Junie and Rue Rose.
The couple celebrates their relationship on Instagram often and have spoken highly of each other in interviews.”We empower and push one another to be better versions of ourselves all across the board,” Teyana told Ebony in April 2022.
“I love that our relationship goes beyond just support — we hold each other accountable to be greater.”
