Nicki Minaj performs with Lil Wayne at the MTV 2023 VMAs night in celebration of 50 years of Hip-hop on Tuesday. The duo who collaborated for the song, “Young Money” joined other stars to perform some rap songs.

The stars who joined in the tribute performance include DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and LL Cool J. All the rappers performed an array of songs in different ensembles.

As our favourite rapper and the host of the MTV 2023 VMAs, Minaj hit the stage in a body-con red bodysuit with her hair sectioned into buns on top of her hair. The rest flowed down her back as performed “Itty Bitty Piggy” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.

Afterwards, she performed with Lil Wayne for his song “A Milli.” Before then, he performed some of his songs including “Last Time I Saw You.” The star also performed a single from her unreleased song.

Nicki Minaj won the award for Best Hip-Hop Video for “Super Freaky Girl”. The fourth win makes the first person in history to win the category. She shared her appreciation for her fans accepting the award.

“So often I joke around and play around and stuff … but this morning when I woke up I had this really strong sense of gratitude,” she said. “So I just want to say, I thank you guys, the people who go out and support, the people who never skip a beat on the Internet, holding us down. I wanna just thank you guys.”

She then switched gears by asking the crowd, “Should I be mean right now or should I be nice?” Minaj then yelled, “It’s Barbie, biiiitch!” She was nominated for a total of six awards this year, including Video of the Year (“Super Freaky Girl”), Artist of the Year and Song of Summer (“Barbie World” with Ice Spice).

The rapper returned as the host of the MTV 2023 VMAs following her 2022 stint. She is also slated to release her fifth studio album, “Pink Friday 2,” on Nov. 17 recently stating that the upcoming album  is “going to be the best album that’s been released in years.”
