Will Smith even defended Jada from a hurtful joke. The actress had revealed that she had been diagnosed with alopecia which means her hair can not grow except with some treatments.
Now, she has shared a new picture of her making progress following her battle with alopecia. The star took to Instagram on Monday to share a picture of how much the hair had grown.
Jada Pinkett Smith added two photos on the post, a before and after look. The first photo showed her bald with splashes of hair. She captioned the post, “This here hair acts’s like it’s trying a make a come back. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see, “Slide 1: Past. Slide 2: Present.”
The second reveals the current status as she sports a blonde hairdo. As stated above, the actress’s journey with alopecia was quite controversial, especially the Oscar incident.
Jada Pinkett’s husband, Will Smith had slapped Oscars 2022 host Chris Rock over his joke of his wife’s baldness. He added, “Leave my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”
Although Chris Rock did not press charges, Will Smith got canceled in Nollywood over the incident and now is making a comeback.
Jada opened up about her journey with alopecia in 2018. “I’ve been having issues with hair loss,” she said on “Red Table Talk” at the time. “It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, am I going bald?’”
“It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear,” she added. After struggling with it for a while, the actress finally got the courage to cut her hair In July 2021. She wrote then, “Willow made me do it because it was time to let go.”
However, she did not go completely bald until months later when she shared another piece of news about her hair. Jada Pinkett Smith then shared a video pointing out a completely bald patch on the top of her head.
“Now at this point, I can only laugh,” she began. “Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia. Look at this line right here … it just showed up like that. And this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions.”
“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something … Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period,” Jada captioned the clip.
