Despite his strained connection with the Royal Family, the former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth has stated that Prince Harry could one day “reconcile” with them.

Tensions between the two camps have been high since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and relocated to California, with their Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan aggravating relations.

However, Ailsa Anderson said that there was no telling what might happen between Harry and his estranged father and brother in the future.

She said: “I haven’t got a crystal ball. Who knows what is going to happen in the future?”

She added: “He [Harry] is obviously working very hard on his charities, on the Invictus Games, which has been a celebrated success.

“I’m the daughter of a military officer. I know what it’s like when you’re injured in the military and you feel like you don’t get the support.

“That is a real testimony to his passion for the Armed Forces that he does this year after year after year.”

Ms. Anderson, who worked for the late Queen Elizabeth from 2001 to 2013, noted that all families face challenges, and the Firm is no exception.

She continued: “It’s a family. Families have disputes. I can’t think of one family that doesn’t have an up or down … and it’s difficult.

“Obviously, according to the media, there’s a lack of trust between family members now but I am a firm believer in reconciliation, and who knows what is going to happen down the track?

“There are things that will bring the family together.”

Harry will return to the UK later this week to attend the WellChild Awards on September 7, the day before the Queen’s death anniversary.

“One of the concerns that he being here (in London) – him giving that speech at the WellChild Awards – might move attention away from the first anniversary of the Queen’s passing to whatever antics that Prince Harry has going on,” writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue said.

“Even if he doesn’t do anything controversial, even if he comes just in the capacity of a private citizen and just gives his speech and goes off to Düsseldorf for his engagements… there will be media attention around him.”

The Duke will next fly to Düsseldorf, Germany, for the 2023 Invictus Games, where Meghan will join him later.
