British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II has been compelled to cancel her traditional vacation plans due to an increase in COVID-19 cases across the United Kingdom, TSZ reports.

According to a report that was published by People, the 95-year-old British monarch has decided not to travel to Sandringham as planned, instead of staying at Windsor Castle for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Originally, Queen Elizabeth stays at her Norfolk estate from late December to early February, but a source told the outlet that she made the decision after “careful consideration” and as a “precautionary approach” due to ongoing coronavirus concerns.

According to the source, the Queen will continue to be visited by members of the royal family throughout the holiday period.

Queen Elizabeth has missed out on holiday travel for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic which has continued to increase across the UK.

According to reports, the royal family traditionally arrives at Sandringham on Christmas Eve and walks to St. Mary’s Magdalene Church on Christmas Day for a church service.

The royal’s decision to forego tradition follows only one week after she canceled her pre-Christmas lunch for the extended family. It was supposed to take place at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.
