Prince Harry would rather focus on his “passion projects” than live the celebrity life in Hollywood, according to an expert.
Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in California since 2020, generating content for major entertainment businesses like Netflix and Spotify, but the Duke may soon be “planning to take a step back” to focus on what is truly important to him.
The Sussexes stated last month that their deal with Spotify was finished, although they still have many projects in the works with Netflix, including their documentary Heart of Invictus, which is set to be released next month.
According to culture and brand expert Rochelle White, keeping out of the spotlight and focusing on charities is where Harry’s true interests lay, whilst Meghan seems more comfortable with public attention.
“I feel that this is pretty much on brand for him. Meghan is used to being in the public eye before she even got with Harry, and I feel that out of both of them, she is the one that everyone would want to speak to and work with.” She said.
Meghan, who recently signed a new deal with prominent agent Ari Emanuel, could “become a brand and build on what she started in regards to her blog, The Tig, and build on that,” according to Ms. White.
The Duchess maintained a thriving lifestyle blog, The Tig, before marrying into the Royal Family, with rumors that she could relaunch the platform and build her career as an influencer.
“No matter what people say, she has got fans and people who are influenced by her style and life, and this could work well,” Ms. White said of the Duchess.
“Looking at past behavior, I feel that Harry has never been a fan of the ‘celebrity life’, and I can see him working and doing things that mean more to him and that he enjoys.”
“He’s been open enough to make that clear, and I don’t want to say he will be doing passion projects, but I don’t think it will be far from it.”
Despite reports that Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal was in jeopardy, a Netflix spokeswoman categorically rejected this.
“The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value,” they told Entertainment Tonight. “Harry and Meghan” launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date.”
One of their upcoming projects is a prequel to Charles Dickens’ 1861 novel Great Expectations, thought to be called Bad Manners and centered on the character Miss Havisham.
Others have speculated that Harry may return to Africa with his charity Sentebale, which is located in Lesotho, to work on projects close to his heart.
