According to a source, Prince Harry is looking to buy a residence in the UK to divide his time between the UK and the US.
However, the Duke of Sussex’s latest move is causing friction between him and his wife, Meghan Markle, who is said to wish to remain in the United States.
The source said: “There is a divide between the couple on this issue but they will soon start looking for a property of their own near London and Harry is very much leading this.”
The insider went on to say that Harry will not be asking his father, King Charles, for a residence on the royal estate because of the “issue that arose with Frogmore Cottage.”
“Making use of a small apartment in Kensington Palace from time to time isn’t out of the question, but when it comes to a home in the UK, they will purchase that themselves,” the source stated.
The pair were ordered to leave Frogmore Cottage earlier this year when Harry’s memoir, Spare, was published in January, revealing many intimate secrets about the Royal Family.
Furthermore, Harry and Meghan have begun to consider where their children will attend school, with a source indicating that “it has not yet been decided where Archie and Lilibet will be educated.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex retired from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States.
Since then, the pair has been alienated from the Firm, and several bombshells about them have been leaked throughout the years.
Meanwhile, Meghan has only visited the UK a few times, with a royal expert predicting that her husband will return frequently without her.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe said: “Harry’s got more reason to come back to the UK than Meghan, so I think we would see these trips, especially if he’s involved with things like the Invictus Games, where most of the people who work for that are in London.”
According to the expert, Meghan is unlikely to want to spend much time in the UK, and Harry’s decision is motivated by his children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.
He stated: “It’s unlikely that Meghan will want to spend much time in the UK. She has shown no sign that she holds any kind of love for England. She’s not given any hints that she would want to move back, even temporarily, to the UK.”
“If they don’t have a base here, Harry’s children are going to grow up not knowing their cousins, uncles or aunts, or any of their family. They’re growing up fast and his father isn’t getting any younger. I think he would want to do this before it’s too late,” the expert added.
