Meghan Markle’s abrupt three-word response to the late Queen’s advice left her “surprised,” according to royal scholar Robert Jobson.

According to an excerpt from Our King by royal scholar Robert Jobson, the late Queen met privately with Meghan to discuss her new life as a royal.

Jobson claimed the Queen was “so pleased Harry had at last found love” and she “warmly welcomed” Megan to the royal family.

But when she tried to give Meghan some advice and hinted that Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, may help her, the American seemed to react unexpectedly.

Meghan, according to Jobson, stated that her soon-to-be husband will support and guard her.

Jobson wrote: “When the Queen, who had asked her then assistant private secretary Samantha Cohen to work alongside Meghan for a bedding-in period, warmly suggested that she should turn to Sophie, Countess of Wessex for support and advice, Meghan dismissed the idea, saying: ‘I’ve got Harry.

“Her response surprised the Queen.”

Fans generally perceive Sophie, who is married to Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son Prince Edward, as a safe pair of hands.

Jobson is hardly the only royal expert who believes the Duchess of Sussex declined the Queen’s assistance.

According to royal biographer Gyles Brandreth, who spoke to Palace Confidential in December, “the Queen wanted Meghan to make a success of the marriage and her new role, and indeed did everything she could to encourage that.”

He later added: “I think she suggested to her that Sophie Wessex, who certainly was a favorite with her, and had been through it because she had married into the Royal Family, and married Prince Edward, might help her, be a sort of mentor.

“I don’t think Meghan was interested in that. She felt she had Harry, she didn’t need to be offered a mentor…The Queen was very keen at first.”
