Meghan Markle may have “run out of steam” after the lucrative $20 million deal she and Prince Harry had with Spotify expired, an expert claimed.

Archewell Audio and the online streaming giant announced last month that they had “mutually agreed to part ways” in a joint statement. Meghan’s podcast Archetypes was being streamed on Spotify.

However, immediately after the end of the partnership was known, Bill Simmons, Spotify’s Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization, slammed the couple, calling them “grifters.”

The fallout has prompted LA correspondent Ross King to speculate on how the termination of the Spotify partnership may have affected Meghan Markle in particular.

He made the remarks while speaking in the hour-long documentary ‘Meghan: Famous But Friendless?’ which aired on Channel 5 in the UK on Saturday night and examined the duchess’s future.

King said: “The Spotify deal collapsing, it made a lot of us think: ‘Is this the first sign of running out of steam for Meghan?'”

“If it was working for both parties, it would not end. There’s obviously been some disagreement, maybe some level of disappointment, on possibly both sides?” He added.

Spotify and the Sussexes mutually agreed to part ways last month, according to a joint statement: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

In a separate statement, Meghan’s talent agency said, “The team behind Archetypes remains proud of the podcast they created at Spotify.”

“Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform.”

However, only hours after the conclusion of the deal was disclosed, Spotify executive Bill Simmons launched a scathing attack on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

“The f***ing grifters,” he shouted in an episode of his own show. That’s the podcast that we should have launched with them.

“I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”

The uproar led to reports that Meghan is “distraught” over the termination of her Spotify contract and “humiliated” by the executive’s insinuation that she and Prince Harry were “grifters.”

“Meghan is distraught over the Spotify snub and the fallout that has followed,” a source told Closer magazine. It’s totally knocked her sideways.

“She can’t believe she’s been attacked so viciously and so publicly by one of their execs, and to be labeled ‘grifters’ is an utterly humiliating and gut-wrenching all-time low.

“It’s served as a brutal reality check that things really do need to change to save their popularity.”

Meghan and Harry’s bumper deal with Netflix, rumored to be worth $100 million, remains in place.
