According to a royal insider, Prince Harry, and King Charles may meet for peace talks in London next month, although Harry’s wife Meghan Markle is not likely to attend.
After the Invictus Games conclude on September 16 in Düsseldorf, Germany, Harry is scheduled to fly back to California via London, around the time the Royal Family is supposed to return from Balmoral.
The King’s rescheduled trip to France does not leave until September 20, so the duo could both be in town on September 17, and royal aides are apparently organizing for them to meet.
“King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September, which ties with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Düsseldorf,” a royal source said.
“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on September 20 so has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak.”
If they do meet, it will be the first time Harry has spoken to a member of the Firm in person since the release of his memoir Spare, which made scathing charges about his family.
While he did travel to London for the King’s Coronation in May, neither Meghan nor their children accompanied him, and he returned to the United States as soon as the ceremony concluded.
Meghan will not be visiting London this time, but she will accompany Harry to the Invictus Games, where they will both take part in the closing ceremony.
