Prince William will be in control of the Royal Family and the monarchy while King Charles III is away from home starting next month.
After having to postpone their initial trip to France in March due to widespread protests against the government of Emmanuel Macron, the King and Queen Camilla will be away for a three-day visit to Paris next month.
According to current regulations, the Prince of Wales is one of seven senior family members who are given the authority to make decisions for His Majesty in his absence or in the event of illness.
That’s because William has served as a state counselor since 2003, when he turned 21.
The King can assign tasks and responsibilities to his seven counselors, who can represent him at meetings and sign paperwork when he is away.

Before the King and Queen leave for France the following day, he will then make a hasty return to England.
Although they were only placed on the list of royals permitted to succeed the King last year, his uncle Prince Edward and his aunt Princess Anne are also counselors of state.
The change also brought Princess Beatrice into the fold, and William will be able to rely on his younger cousin for assistance, although she is not a senior working royal.
When the late Queen was alive, she had only four state counselors: then-Prince Charles, Andrew, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
The addition of Edward, Anne, and Beatrice to the council came after the British Royal Family had been dealing with a huge difficulty since Elizabeth II’s death.

The rules state that the sovereign can only delegate to members of the family who live in the UK, which the Duke of Sussex may violate if he moves his domicile to California.
And, although remaining a member of the British Royal Family, the Duke of York has not fulfilled any official duties since November 2019.
