King Charles and Prince Harry will not meet for peace negotiations in London in September, as had been intended, according to a Royal source.
Despite claims to the contrary, a source told TSZ Newz that the meeting will not take place, however, the King may be open to the concept of reconciliation in the future.
Initially, it was thought that plans were being made for the two to meet on September 17, as Harry is reportedly traveling back from the Invictus Games in Germany through London after the sports event concludes the day before.
Meanwhile, the King will have a few days off between his return from Balmoral and his rescheduled formal visit to France on September 20.
“King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September, which ties in with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Düsseldorf,” a source said.
“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on 20 September, so [he] has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak.”
Other sources, however, have “scoffed” at the idea, with Buckingham Palace denying the possibility of a physical meeting between the father and son.
The King may want to reconcile with Harry, but there is reportedly “no chance” that his older brother, Prince William, is receptive to any dialogue because the contents of Harry’s memoir Spare still hurt him.
“He feels utterly betrayed by what Harry wrote about him in the book [Spare] and said about him on Netflix,” a friend of the Prince of Wales said.
“They were very close growing up so it has been very painful for William. But ultimately what can he do? Just look at Spare. It’s literally William’s worst nightmare.
“It is a total violation of his privacy. On top of that, Harry has criticized Kate and the way he is bringing up his children.”
The last time Charles, William, and Harry met was following Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021, when the King was obliged to mediate between his sons.
The elder royals may consider what to do with Harry and Meghan when they reconvene at Balmoral for their traditional summer vacation.
Omid Scobie, a journalist, has stated that, while Harry and his family were not in regular communication, he has spoken to his father since Spare’s release.
