Kate Middleton will play the role of a mediator when her husband Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry reunite at Prince Philip’s funeral, report has confirmed.

The 39-year-old Duchess of Cambridge will act as a “peacemaker” of sorts to help Prince William and Prince Harry put on a “unified” front for the Queen at Prince Philip’s funeral over the weekend, the Daily Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

The princes have not seen each other in over a year since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals. While tensions are high in the royal family, the publication reported that it is believed Middleton is ready to step in if necessary to help the brothers as she is close with both of the boys.

In a 2017 profile of Harry, Middleton was described as the “sister he never had.”

“They know it is not about them on Saturday – it is about honoring their grandfather’s memory and supporting their grandmother,” a royal source told the publication. “I would be extremely surprised if that wasn’t front and center of both their minds. They will be keen to spend time together as a family, in the same time zone for once.”

Another source added, “The entire focus is on the Queen. No exceptions. A family unified.”

However, the entire family will not be present.

Meghan Markle, 39, will not attend the funeral as her doctors did not clear her to fly to the UK. Instead, she will prepare to go on maternity leave in late May.

She is currently pregnant, and heavily… with the couple’s second child, a daughter.

Prince Harry will fly back to the United States to be with his wife shortly after the funeral processions.

The funeral at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel is set to be an intimate affair and will be under strict UK social-distancing rules amid the coronavirus pandemic.
