Expert in body language Jesus Enrique Rosas examined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s engagement portrait by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, a black and white photograph of Meghan and Harry standing on the grounds at Frogmore Cottage, as well as the significance of their movements.

One follower on his YouTube channel The Body Language Guy asked the expert: “Jesus, is this engagement photo as awkward and uncomfortable as it seems to be?”

He mentioned that his first impression was that “they were a little off balance,” but he wasn’t sure why.

“Everyone is asking the same question, why is this so unsettling?” he remarked. However, he said that the “most shocking part of this picture” and “the first thing we see is Harry’s smile.”

“When was the last time you saw Harry smiling like this?” questioned the body language expert. I certainly don’t remember. This is not the usual Harry nowadays. This is a complete, sincere smile.”

A “genuine smile,” according to the expert, is when the lip corners lift upwards and the cheeks press against the eyes, and then “you have that real light on his eyes, that’s something that you can’t fake.”

The expert claimed that because Harry was “delighted” and “truly happy” here, he was experiencing “actual joy.”

According to Jesus, there is a significant difference between these photos and the ones taken when Meghan and Harry announced their engagement in front of the press at the Palace.

The difference in Harry’s smile here is that his lip corners are not quite pointed upward, it’s more to the sides. His smile seems a bit forced. In the professional photoshoot, he is much more natural and it is a more pleasant smile.” He said.

He did, however, point out that the Duke of Sussex was probably more relaxed with only one photographer taking shots at Frogmore Cottage rather than posing in front of 30.

Jesus returned to their position that “raises questions” as he continued to analyze the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s body language.

“Why are they stumbling?” he wondered. And why does Meghan look like she’s clinging on to Harry? Why does she look so clingy?”

The expert claimed: “Maybe a lot has to do with the fact that she has her left hand rubbing Harry’s arm and her right hand is already in a ‘controlling’ gesture over her soon-to-be husband’s hand.”

Meghan’s gesture is “unusual,” according to the body language expert because she put her hand over Harry’s hand “when it should be the opposite since men’s hands are usually larger and bigger than women’s hands.”

“So the reason why this picture is a bit unsettling is first, we see Harry truly happy but at the same time, Meghan being clingy, and being ‘I’m so, so next to you, grabbing you, that we both stumble’ – it’s something that will be a metaphor for years to come,” he asserted.

Because Meghan was wearing a sheer gown, the photographer apparently struggled to get the appropriate angles, according to Jesus Enrique.

“And the dress itself was a bit of a controversy,” he said, referring to the rumored cost of £99,000, which the Palace later clarified was acquired privately.
