Models walked the Miami Swim Week runway completely naked except for strips of body tape. Apparently, this is the new fashion and a sole work of a line notorious for risque designs
The Miami Swim Week is known for showcasing risqué bikini designs. But the last Friday’s presentation by the Black Tape Project pushed the boundaries beyond anything seen before.
Models we’re captured strutting down the runway nude except for bikinis made from strips of duct tape known as the Black Tape Project.
The Black Tape Project is a creation of Cuban-American creative Joel Alvarez, who overcame poverty to become one of his country’s most provocative designers.
As models walked the runway in revealing designs, attendees praised their looks. But the fashion world critiqued the runway show for lack of inclusion.
It means that the bevvy of models does not include different body types and shapes. One critic wrote, ‘I’m confused.
Wasn’t Victoria’s Secret’s runway shows cancelled because of the unobtainable body shapes among models?’
Another said, ‘How come this fashion show can take place? Can’t understand the fashion world.’
Still, photos of the catwalk presentation went viral on social media, one Instagram user said it was a ‘great show’ but asked, ‘Where’s the variety of bodies?’
Another remarked: ‘All the models look the same.’ Despite criticism of the lack of plus-size models, fashion icons say the show was astonishing.
The body tape is a signature product owned by Alvarez. He sells varieties of them on his website. For example, black hue starts at $9.99 a roll.
The are other colours such as metallic golds, blues, and pinks which can cost up to $29.99 each. Keep scrolling to see pictures of models in differnt tape designs.
