“All you gotta do is love those little brats, and they’re better than TV [sic],” Hanks, 66, told Entertainment Tonight. “They’re not little brats, but extraordinary young women.”

“They are extraordinary young women,” Wilson, who is also 66, said.

The couple, who have been married since 1988, have two kids, Chet, 32, and Truman, 27.

From his first marriage to actress Samantha Lewe, Hanks also has a son Colin, 45, and a daughter Elizabeth, 41.

They were married from 1978 to 1987. Lewes passed away in 2002 after a fight with cancer.

Colin’s two daughters, Olivia and Charlotte, and Chet’s daughter, Michaiah, are grandchildren to Hanks and Wilson.

Wilson states that as a grandmother, she makes an effort to spend quality time with her grandchildren.

“You’ve got to get on the trampoline with them, get in the pool with them, get on the tennis court, do all the sports,” she told the site. “You’ve just got to hang out.”

Hanks added that the greatest approach to win over his grandchildren is to “make their macaroni and cheese just perfectly.”

While the couple normally keeps their personal lives private, Hanks’ son Colin did describe what it’s like to have the “Forrest Gump” actor watch after his children.

“It would be great if they paid attention to the kids’ bedtime,” Colin joked on “The Today Show” in October 2022, adding that his children “get a lot of sugar” when they see their famous grandfather.

“They need like good, ugly sweater vests,” Colin added. “If they both had those and just some glasses and complained about the temperature, I think we’d be good.”

Colin told Us Weekly in 2019 that his daughters haven’t realized how famous their grandfather is.

“They don’t care about him at all,” he told the outlet, adding that when their grandpa visits it’s “like every other playdate with a grandparent.”
