Teddy Ray, a rising star in the comedy world, died just two weeks after turning 32-year-old as fans paid tribute to the talent on social media, including “Abbott Elementary” creator Quinta Brunson, who commented on Ray’s final Instagram post, “Heartbroken.” Teddy, I’m going to miss you.”
Stand-up and Emmy winner Katt Williams praised the comic, while “Insecure” creator and television executive Issa Rae posted a white heart emoji over a photo of Ray smiling to her Instagram Stories.

Hoorae, Rae’s media company, also paid tribute to Ray, who had previously worked with the brand.
“Rest in Power to our longtime creative collaborator and friend, Teddy Ray. Grateful for the energy you always brought to our projects and sets!,” read a Twitter post from the organization.
Ray’s death was confirmed by Comedy Central, who shared a snap of the comedian on-stage via Twitter alongside caption, “Teddy Ray was a hilarious and beloved performer. He’ll be deeply missed by the entire comedy community.”
Ray was regularly featured in several YouTube sketches and skits for brands such as comedy platform All Def Digital, many of which went viral as popular memes, developing a strong social media presence and fanbase online. He also appeared in HBO Max’s “Pause with Sam Jay.”
His death comes just one month after that of fellow comic book artist Jak Knight. Ray himself paid tribute to his late comedy partner with an Instagram post in July.
Following Jak Knight’s death, Teddy Ray wrote after sharing a photo of them together, “It took me forever to type this i ain’t think you’d leave me this tearful. Love you 4ver Jak Knight 
.”
