Sam Asghari has broken his silence following the announcement of his divorce from pop diva Britney Spears.
“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” the “Family Business” star posted on his Instagram Story on Thursday.
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always,” he added, casually adding, “s-t happens.”
Asghari stated that “asking for privacy seems rediculous [sic],” thus he is asking “everyone, including the media, to be kind and thoughtful.”
Asghari filed for divorce from Spears on Wednesday, just hours after TSZ Newz announced the couple was splitting up after a year of marriage.
It was initially reported that the separated couple were having problems in paradise due to cheating suspicions – supposedly on Spears’ behalf.
According to sources, Asghari, 29, confronted the “Circus” singer, 41, about the charges a week prior, resulting in an enraged dispute and the actor leaving their shared house.
“It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce,” a source told us.
Asghari is unlikely to walk away from a divorce with a large portion of Spears’ assets after willingly signing a prenup ahead of their June 2022 wedding, TSZ Newz previously learned.
“Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favor,” a source informed us last summer. “Any money she made before the wedding is protected.”
However, another source stated that the pop star will most likely pay her estranged husband.
Rumors regarding Asghari and Spears’ divorce came ahead of their one wedding anniversary in May when a documentary about the singer’s life was revealed.
According to the documentary, the couple’s marriage was in “deep trouble,” with the “Baby One More Time” singer allegedly becoming violent with Asghari during screaming matches.
At the time, the former personal trainer condemned the “disgusting” charges, accusing the documentary and those involved of exploiting his wife.
“I found it absolutely disgusting for the people who were in her life when she didn’t have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs,” Asghari said in an Instagram video at the time.
Spears went on to defend their relationship by sharing a PDA video of herself kissing the actor underneath a flower arch.
“I feel so blessed to be with such an incredible husband who inspires me every day!!” she captioned the May 17 Instagram video.
After five years of dating, Spears and Asghari announced their engagement in September 2021.
It wasn’t long until the two married in front of A-list celebs at the singer’s Thousand Oaks, California, estate.

In 2004, the “Hold Me Closer” singer was also married for 55 hours to Jason Alexander. Later that year, she married Kevin Federline, but they divorced in 2007.
Sean, 17, and Jayden, 16, are Spears and Federline’s two sons.
