Sam Asghari is not having it, as he criticized a member of Victor Wembanyama’s security team for allegedly slapping his wife, Britney Spears when she attempted to take a photo with the NBA player.
Following the incident at Catch restaurant in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, Asghari took to his Instagram Story to express his displeasure.
“I am opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves,” the 29-year-old wrote over a black screen.
“Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable,” he continued. “I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.”
In a subsequent post, Asghari stated that the “violent behavior of an out-of-control security guard should not cast a shadow” on Wembanyama who was only signed by the Spurs last month.
“The blame should fall on the coward who did this, the people who hired him without proper vetting, and a systematic culture of disregard for women within sports and entertainment.”
“I can’t imagine a scenario where an unarmed female fan showing any kind of excitement or appreciation for a celebrity would cause her to be physically assaulted, much less being hit in the face for tapping someone on the shoulder.” He continued.
The actor ended his post by noting that he “looks forward” to watching how the organization handles the problem and the “changes” that they hopefully make.
TSZ US can confirm that the Grammy winner filed a police report for battery after being slapped on the face by a member of Wembanyama’s security detail.
