Blake Lively is getting dragged by critics for launching an alcohol brand – despite admittedly not being a drinker herself.

“Drinking isn’t my thing. But for f* sake, flavor is,” Lively, 35, wrote on Instagram Wednesday, along with a photo of herself serving cans of her sparkling cocktail brand, Betty Booze.

“Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No crap. Also a real-time saver. Which is why I really did it. @bettybooze.”

The 3-year-old daughter of her and her husband Ryan Reynolds is believed to be the inspiration for the business name. James, 8, and Inez, 6, are their other daughters, and in February they welcomed their fourth child. Their newest family member’s name and sex have remained a secret.

Lively’s alcoholic beverages are available in a variety of flavors, including Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry, Sparkling Tequila with Oak Smoked Lemonade, and Sparkling Tequila with Lime Shiso.

“@bettybooze if you’re also tired. Or lazy. But like me, you still have an ego about what you serve. Or if you just appreciate your mouth. Any excuse counts…” Lively wrote in another post.

Critics were perplexed by the “Gossip Girl” alum’s decision to establish an alcoholic beverage line despite freely saying she does not consume alcohol.

“If drinking isn’t your thing. Why does it have alcohol??” one netizen commented on the post.

“If just flavor is ‘your thing’ And not drinking, why oh why on Earth do you endorse an alcoholic beverage?” a second person concurred.

“I don’t get why you would promote alcohol if you don’t drink. So you can serve them to others at parties? Very odd choice,” a third said.

“So she’s smart enough not to drink alcohol but wants people to spend their $ on alcohol so she can get richer?” someone remarked.

“If drinking isn’t your thing why not do a mocktail instead?” a fan suggested.

“How can you market/create a product you don’t openly consume yourself? come the f on now,” another Instagram user wrote.

“First @jlo, now Blake Lively, ridiculous all these celebs who don’t even drink selling alcohol just to make a buck,” one user said, referring to Jennifer Lopez’s introduction of an alcoholic beverage line despite being sober.

Another person agreed, writing, “Another cash grab like JLo.”

“Really tired of the celebs milking alcoholism when they know it’s toxic and dangerous and don’t drink themselves. Money grabs from the Celebs,” another said.

However, many of Lively’s fans, though, defended the actress’ unusual decision to promote a product she would never drink herself.

“A good business person sees a gap in the market and fills it. They don’t have to be a consumer of your own product to stand behind its quality. She’s putting her name on this product and risking her reputation. That’s a good businesswoman,” one person said in the comments section.

“Woah people are so sensitive about everything. Someone can not drink and still create a drink for those who do,” another said in Lively’s defense. “The company started with NA sparkling mixers.

People drink those as mocktails and in cocktails, people can choose to drink these or not. Why not build a company where there is something for everyone?
If you don’t like it don’t buy it, if you don’t drink it don’t drink it, don’t like it keep scrolling.”

“Spotted……..Serena van der Woodson….. entrepreneur,” another wrote, referring to her character on “Gossip Girl.”

“The ridiculousness of these comments. It’s a drink, get over it or go try it, either way, keep it classy,” one more person added.

Lively revealed in 2021 that she lives a sober lifestyle because she dislikes the way alcohol makes her feel.

“I don’t drink because I don’t like the effects of alcohol, but I enjoy being a part of it,” she told People in 2021 about her beverage brand Betty Buzz, which consists of five flavored non-alcoholic bottled beverages that may be mixed with alcohol or enjoyed on their own.

“I like being social,” she added. I like people coming together. I found that sometimes not drinking, the thing that was interesting was that it was a little alienating because you don’t feel — and maybe it’s just in your own head — but you just don’t really feel a part of it.”

She even admitted that some people would be critical of her decision to push a mixer.

“When we first started talking about this company, one of the conversations that came up was like, ‘Are we going to be pushing a boulder up a hill because you don’t drink and mixers are made to mix with alcohol? I mean, that’s the name of them.

So are you going to have credibility in this space as somebody who doesn’t drink?’”

“And I was like, ‘Yeah, because I feel like I’m somebody who really likes flavor, that’s it for me,’” Lively explained.

The “Simple Favor” actress appears to be following in her husband’s footsteps. In February 2018, Reynolds, 46, purchased a share in Aviation American Gin.

The liquor brand was reportedly sold to European beverage corporation Diageo in 2020 for an estimated $610 million.
