Kelly Osbourne is still getting used to being a mother.
In an interview, on Wednesday, the 38-year-old, who welcomed her first child, a son called Sidney, in November, opened up about the nerve-racking yet rewarding new chapter.
“I’m a mom now, I love it. It’s the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Osbourne said, adding, “It’s scary as f—k because you don’t want to make a mistake.”
“It’s all these little tiny things and these mistakes that you ultimately make because you can’t learn unless you make a mistake,” she continued, referring to the first time she tried to cut her son’s fingernails.
“It’s just unfortunate that you have to do it with a baby.”
Although Osbourne feels like a fish out of water at times, seeing her baby surpass important milestones makes it all worthwhile.
“He is almost crawling, which is amazing,” she said. “He is kind of like scooting backward and turning in circles.”
“Now my favorite thing is that he is, like, mom-obsessed, just where, if he sees me, he is reaching for me and I love it.”
The former reality star has also been able to get advice from her parents, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
When asked what her celebrity parents’ finest parenting advice was, she said, “That it’s not about you.” Now your life is about your child.”
Kelly, on the other hand, appears to have taken their advice a little too seriously.
“My mum is trying to get me to not be so attached to the baby right now, because I don’t do anything unless it has something to do with my baby, and she’s like, ‘You have to take some time out for you,’” Kelly explained.
“But I try and do it, and the next thing I know, I’m sneaking out the back door to go home to be with my baby.”
Kelly has kept her baby, whom she shares with Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, out of the public eye since his birth, even going so far as to criticize her mother for discussing the child on TV.
Nonetheless, even before the baby arrived, the actress began to live a much more secluded life.
Kelly stated last month that she “hid for nine months” when pregnant because she was afraid people would criticize her expanding physique.
When an Instagram fan asked why they “never saw a pregnant picture of” the former reality star, Kelly answered that she never posted pregnant photos because she “did not want to get fat-shamed.”

The actress then revealed to having gastric sleeve surgery in 2020, which she described as “one of the best decisions [she] ever made.”
