TSZ Newz confirms that Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, following allegations that the couple had been having “serious problems” for months.
According to court documents, the singer filed the petition in Miami on Tuesday and has hired celebrity attorney Tom Sasser, who handled Tiger Woods’ divorce.
Jonas claims in the petition obtained by TSZ Newz, that his marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
It also mentions that the “Cake By the Ocean” singer’s two children with Turner have been mostly living with him, although he is seeking “shared parental responsibility” following the divorce.
According to the documents, the estranged couple signed a prenuptial agreement on April 27, 2019.
TSZ Newz has reached out to Jonas’ lawyer and Turner’s representative for comment.
On Sunday, it was claimed that the Jonas Brothers member’s team had contacted two Los Angeles-area divorce lawyers and was on the verge of submitting the paperwork.
The 34-year-old “Sucker” singer has supposedly been caring for his and Turner’s two young girls “pretty much all the time” while on tour with brothers Kevin and Nick Jonas.
According to a source, Jonas and his estranged wife had “very different lifestyles” because she apparently enjoyed partying a lot.
Fans also noticed warning signals of trouble before the headlines.
Not only did the couple sell their Miami property last month, but Joe also refused to wear his wedding ring while performing with his brothers in St. Louis, Dallas, and Minneapolis in late August.
The missing band was noticed since Jonas wore it during the Jonas Brothers’ tour dates, including the opening show at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 12, which Turner attended.
The “Game of Thrones” actor, 27, did not attend any of the band’s subsequent shows.
Turner and Jonas started dating in 2016, and he proposed the following year.
The couple married in two star-studded weddings, the first in Las Vegas in May 2019 and the second in the French countryside a month later.
The singer and actress swiftly expanded their family, welcoming Willa in July 2020 and another baby girl whose name they have yet to share in July 2022.
Over the years, the couple has kept their children — and their marriage — mostly out of the spotlight.
In November 2022, the DNCE frontman addressed the choice to Mr. Porter.
“When we started dating, I realized that I didn’t have a ton of stuff that was just for me,” he said. “And in the end, it makes me a better person to have something for myself.”
Turner, on the other hand, gushed about Jonas’ effect on her mental health in a 2019 interview.
“When someone tells you they love you every day … it makes you love yourself a bit more,” she said.
“A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness.”
