Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were estranged before Joe’s divorce filing on September 5, according to recent reports.
According to a source close to the couple, the musician, 34, and the actress, 27, spent “the whole summer apart” before word of their breakup leaked.
“They were not separated, but they’ve been living separate lives for months,” an insider told TSZ Newz about Joe and Sophie.
According to the insider, Joe and Sophie “haven’t gotten along in a while, but they’re hoping to resolve this all amicably.”
Furthermore, the source stated that the ex-couple is “figuring out” custody of their two girls, aged 3 and 1, “in real-time.”
“They did have a prenup,” the source added. As a family, they were based in Florida. The kids were with him the last few months, traveling with him with family while he’s been on tour. Sophie’s been working in the UK.”
On September 5, Joe filed for divorce from his four-year marriage. The “Rollercoaster” singer allegedly requested joint custody of their 3-year-old Willa and 1-year-old in the divorce papers.
Joe submitted the paperwork in Miami, Florida, following allegations on September 3 that he met with two divorce attorneys in Los Angeles.
Earlier today, Joe and Sophie broke their silence about their divorce saying: “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” read the joint statement on their respective Instagram pages.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the former pair added.
In May of 2019, the Jonas Brothers bandmate and Game of Thrones star married in Las Vegas.

They had their first kid, Willa, in 2020, and their second child, whose name has yet to be revealed, in 2022.
During their marriage, the pair kept much of their personal life private, with a few exceptions, like as at the Jonas Brothers’ Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in January, when Joe referred to Sophie as his “partner in crime.”
