Jamie Foxx says he went to “hell and back” as he spoke out for the first time after being hospitalized in April due to an unknown “medical complication.”

In an emotional video posted on Instagram Friday night, the Oscar winner, 55, fought back tears as he described his “hellish” experience.

“I went through something I thought I would never ever go through,” Foxx said, to his 16 million followers.

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that man,” he admitted, with tears in his eyes.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, or a television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The actor did not reveal his sickness, but he is “on the road to recovery.”

Foxx thanked his sister, Deondra Dixon, and his daughter, Corinne Foxx, for saving his life.

“To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video,” Foxx said.

“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in, in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let nothing out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these. But, I’m coming back, and I am able to work.”

Foxx said that his eyes are “working just fine” and that he’s “not paralyzed.”

“I just want to say I love everybody and I love all the love that I got,” he concluded.

He did, however, publicly thank his supporters on Instagram in May for “all the love,” adding that he felt “blessed.”

Foxx was seen getting worked up in the video on Friday, telling followers that he might “burst into tears” with gratitude in public.

“Man, I know they talk about people crying on videos… but I’m not going to do a take two, it is what it is,” he stated.
