Vital protein is hugely favored by celebrities including Kourtney Kardashian (before Lemme). But FDA recalled about 59,701 canisters of Vital Proteins and Collagen Peptides.

It was said to contain foreign materials, specifically “pieces of one blue broken lid.”

The supplements were recalled from different locations where the contaminated products may have been shipped. This includes Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts,

New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

The recall was initiated on April 21, per the site. Now, the incident has raised a huge question about whether wellness products should are safe.

As stated above, the Vital Protein supplements are celebrities’ favorite, especially Jennifer Aniston. The murder mystery star says the product is still safe for use.

This brings yet another question. What does the supplement do and why should you take it considering that your health is important?

Vital Proteins is a Collagen supplement jaw to boost health. Collagen is a key component in bones, skin, muscles, and other body parts.

People often take collagen supplements to support skin health, among other things, but does it help?

Jennifer Aniston says it does. “I have had a passion for health and wellness for years” I know that this topic can be overwhelming so through this campaign.

I want to show simple ways to incorporate collagen into your daily life,” the “Murder Mystery” star told the site at the time.

“For me, it’s adding it to my morning coffee and replenishing it after a workout, but there is truly an option for everyone.”

However, the beloved actress is not the only celebrity who has promoted Vital Proteins.

Kardashian’s wellness company, Poosh, previously collaborated with the health brand to create a matcha-flavored collagen protein.

It appears that the  “Kardashians” star, 44, has not partnered with Vital Proteins for some time since she launched her supplement brand, Lemme, in September 2022.

The spokesperson for Vital Proteins told Page Six in response to the recall that the “health and safety of consumers” is the company’s “highest priority.”

“In April, out of an abundance of caution and our commitment to product quality and consumer safety, we initiated a voluntary recall of a single batch code of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

— at a limited number of Costco locations — and a  worked with Costco to both notify their members who may have purchased impacted products and remove any potentially impacted products from stores,” the rep further explains.

“To date, no injuries have been reported concerning this recall. No other retailers or e-tailers are affected by this recall, and no other Vital Proteins products are affected.”

The company says it’s safe and science says collagen is good for your body.

It plays a role in strengthening skin, as well as in elasticity and hydration. As you age, your body produces less collagen, leading to dry skin and the formation of wrinkles.
