Teyana Taylor confirmed on Sunday that she and her husband Iman Shumpert are getting a divorce after 10 years of being a couple including seven years of marriage. She further explained that infidelity was not the cause of their break-up.
Several of Hollywood’s split from time immemorial was mostly due to infidelity although most of our favourite stars often say it is not so. Perhaps that is the case with the dancer and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Iman Shumpert.
Teyana took to Instagram on Sunday to share details about the split involving Shumpert, 33, who she shares two children with – Iman ‘Junie’ Shumpert, seven, and Rue Rose Shumpert, three.’AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie!’ she said alongside a shot of both of them dressed up as the Wayne’s World characters Wayne and Garth.
‘In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while.’ Then stated that they remained on good terms while clearing the air that infidelity was not the cause of their divorce. ‘To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure,’ she said.
‘We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children.’ Teyana Taylor continued: ‘Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.’
She offered no other details except that she and Shumpert were both focused on keeping family matters private, which she said was the reason they were ‘able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise.’ ‘The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved.’
Teyana concluded by saying wrapped up her ‘I hope this provided some clarity for y’all.’ Iman Shumpert on his part has not confirmed the split. However, TSZ U.S. has contacted his management for a comment. Unfortunately, we are yet to get a reply.
Before the confirmation of the split, we did a profile of the multi-talented celebrity gushing over the love between her and her now estranged husband. It is worth noting that we failed to take into account the fact that both have not been seen together in public or on one another’s social media pages in months.
But that is simply because, both Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert are private with their relationship. However, a rumour had circulated on TikTok in April that she had a drug overdose after learning her husband had been unfaithful to her. She debunked the rumours in an interview with Ebony Magazine.
‘These types of rumours and lies hurt the most because I take pride in being a mother and would never be that irresponsible,’ she told Ebony magazine. ‘I’ve never used drugs a day in my life, nor do I smoke and only drink occasionally.’

Teyana added: ‘To read the comments on my page being flooded by people’s assumptions of me and my family and creating stories and scenarios that doesn’t exist and never have, I will ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS respond and protect the integrity of my family. Especially if lies are being told.’
