A source also disclosed that Lanez was remanded on the spot. After the verdict, Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, said, “The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg.”

Lanez’s lawyer George Mgdesyan says in a statement, “We are shocked by the verdict. There was not sufficient evidence to convict Mr. Peterson. We believe this case was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt. We will be exploring all options including an appeal.”

A verdict has been reached in Megan Thee Stallion’s case against Tory Lanez over a shooting incident in July 2020.

According to TMZ, Lanez now faces 22 years in prison, and the publication believes he will be deported back to Canada, where he was born. His sentencing will take place at a later date.

The trial, held in Los Angeles. It was filled with emotional and, at times, contentious testimony.

Megan, 27, took the stand on Dec. 14 in a purple power suit and claimed in front of Lanez, 30, and the entire courtroom that the “Say It” singer allegedly fired several shots at her while shouting “dance, bitch!” after an argument ensued in their vehicle on their way home from a party.

Many believe Megan wore purple to court because that color is often used as a symbol for domestic violence awareness.

The “WAP” rapper alleged the disagreement began over their occasional sexual relationship, but then turned into a fight about their respective music careers.

“I’m in shock. I’m scared,” Megan recalled during her testimony. “I hear the gun going off and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me.”

The “Savage” rapper also claimed that Lanez offered her and her former best friend Kelsey Harris, who was present inside the car during the incident, $1 million each to stay silent and not tell police what occurred.

There was a medical records that show doctors found bullet fragments in Megan’s foot.

Harris testified in the trial as well, but her statements contradicted an interview she gave prosecutors in September.

According to Rolling Stone, Megan’s ex-BFF previously claimed that Lanez threatened to shoot her inside the Cadillac Escalade before allegedly opening fire on Megan.

However, she testified that the interview was “not accurate” and that she was “not truthful” to “protect” herself. Harris also denied remembering seeing Lanez even hold a gun, despite her previous account of the events.

She admitted, though, to sending Megan’s bodyguard a text that read, “Help / Tory shot meg / 911,” but said it was sent based on “assumptions,” per Rolling Stone.

Megan’s bodyguard, another key witness in the trial, was also scheduled to testify when he mysteriously went “missing” before doing so.

However, a source told Media Takeout that Justin Edison, a former member of Megan’s security team, was “currently in Qatar” on assignment because one of his clients was “at the World Cup.” He was not expected to return in time for the trial, according to reports.

The Canadian musician, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, previously pleaded not guilty to one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. Lanez has maintained his innocence, even mentioning it in his album “Daystar.”
