Camilla Parker Bowles ‘Honored’ To Take On Future ‘Queen Consort’ Title

Camilla Parker Bowles expressed her “honor” that the Queen will allow her to take on the title of “Queen Consort” once her husband, Prince Charles, becomes King.

“I feel very, very honored and very touched,” the Duchess of Cornwall, 74, said during an appearance at community kitchen Nourish Hub when asked about the Queen’s special title, People reports.

In a letter written from Sandringham House, the palace where she hosted a reception ahead of the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne over the weekend, Queen Elizabeth II made the shocking announcement that her son’s second wife would be given the title “Queen Consort.”

“I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection you continue to give me.

“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” the Queen wrote.

Camilla and Prince Charles, 73, married in 2005. Their marriage took place nine years after his divorce from Princess Diana, who died a year later in 1997 at the age of 36.

Camilla was widely despised while she was having an affair with Charles during his marriage to the enormously popular Diana, but Camilla has recently gained popularity.

Camilla never took the title of Princess of Wales after marrying Charles, but she had stated that she “intended” to serve as “Princess Consort” when Charles ascended to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth is the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch and was recently hospitalized overnight for testing, raising health concerns. In October 2021, she also began using a cane.
