Mandy Teefey, Selena Gomez’s mother, survived a near-fatal case of double pneumonia thanks to “miracle” doctors who helped her defeat the infection.
“I was told I had days to live,” Mandi Teefey, 45, revealed via Instagram over the weekend, sharing photos of herself in the hospital while she was fighting for her life.
“I had miracle Drs [sic] and love from my family and friends to keep me going. I fought. The Drs [sic] fought and I was one of the few who made it out,” she added.

Teefey revealed the details of her health scare after being subjected to “personal attacks” on her physical appearance in a photoshoot for Entrepreneur magazine, which was published on Nov. 18.
“I gained 60lbs plus inflammation from the infection. I had zero business to be at a photo shoot,” she revealed.

Teefey also stated that she had only been out of the hospital for a little more than two weeks at the time of the shoot, for which she wore a leather skirt and a black turtleneck top.
Teefey appeared vibrant and happy in a behind-the-scenes video from the photo shoot that she shared on Instagram, despite having just survived a life-threatening illness.

“I’m healthy and I will work on myself at my pace. It’s a miracle I am here and could careless if that means I’m a 16 instead of an 8,” she said.
The cover of Entrepreneur featured Teefey and Selena Gomez to promote their upcoming “Wondermind,” a “mental fitness ecosystem” created by the mother-daughter duo and The Newsette founder, Daniella Pierson.
